Corporate Recruiter

Marathon Consulting is seeking a corporate recruiter to add to our recruiting team. As a corporate recruiter, you will build and engage a talent network, align qualified candidates, and recruit the best IT professionals in each role. You will deliver recruitment support by understanding hiring needs and help drive talent acquisition outcomes in a high-growth/high-visibility business. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of corporate recruiting or direct hire experience in a technology-centric environment and already connected to the greater Richmond IT community. 

This position is a hybrid role with both remote and on-site working time at our Richmond, VA office.

  • Responsible for sourcing and attracting top talent and developing a strong, qualified candidate pool for current and future openings
  • Partner with team members to develop sourcing strategies and provide talent for open positions
  • Conduct initial candidate screenings to further assess candidate qualifications and share the Marathon corporate story
  • Provide excellent support to candidates throughout the recruitment process by keeping them informed of status and ensuring a great candidate experience
  • Manage open requisitions and the recruiting workflow
  • Maintain records and track critical metrics through the ATS to help direct recruitment activities
  • Stay abreast of industry tools and technologies applicable to the talent pool being recruited
  • Oversee the pre-employment process (background check, references, etc.) and prepare offer letters
  • Establish a true business partnership with leadership on all staffing-related activities and issues, partner with executive leadership on recruiting and interviewing efforts
  • Shared management of recruiting platform and ads on job boards such as Indeed, Dice, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Must be able to attend recruiting and networking-related events such as job fairs, technical business mixers, and technology user groups


  • 5 years of performance-based recruiting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, marketing, or related and 5+ years of related experience with emphasis in recruitment and talent acquisition
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a high-performing technical recruiter and sourcer, working in a corporate setting in a high-growth and/or fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of technology and science-based skills required in the company
  • Ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, including management/candidates in remote locations
  • Exposure to full lifecycle recruiting, including screening, negotiations, and closing
  • High sense of urgency and drive to move a process forward
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong analytical ability, judgement, and problem analysis techniques
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles
  • Recruit client-centric candidates for IT consulting positions in application, database, and web development, digital marketing, data solutions/data analytics, project management, and business analysis
  • Post job ads and maintain active presence through networking and career sites such as LinkedIn, Dice and Indeed
  • Maintain excellent communication with job candidates and the executive team throughout the hiring process
  • Follow recruiting guidelines, including proper background checks, references, and other documentation as needed
  • Working knowledge of technology and science-based skills/talent required in the company and be skilled at engaging candidates through storytelling to ultimately influence the best to join
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Ability to multitask, deal with changing priorities, and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent analytical and verbal, written, and presentation skills
