Marathon Consulting Returns to the Hunger Heroes Competition in the Justice League
Marathon Consulting, LLC, a Virginia-based provider of Information Technology (IT) and digital marketing solutions, is proud to announce that, for the second year in a row, we have joined the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore’s “Hunger Heroes Justice League.” During this time of need, the Foodbank needs the support of Marathon and our community more than ever. The COVID-19 crisis is disrupting the Foodbank's regular pipeline of donated food items, forcing them to purchase more food, which has increased their cost to provide a meal from $0.40 to $3.50.
For the health and safety of everyone involved, this year’s Hunger Heroes contest will be 100% virtual. The Marathon team will be hosting a variety of creative and fun events that will raise funds for those in need while also providing great opportunities for our team to connect and engage with one another. The fundraising events include a virtual Marathon Gaming Night, Silent Auction, DIY Project Contest, Pet Shows, Virtual Happy Hours, and several more!
You can help support Marathon’s fight against hunger by spreading awareness for the Foodbank and following our #WeAreHungerHeroes posts on social media. Marathon is collecting donations for the foodbank at https://fundraise.foodbankonline.org/marathon.
"The Annual Hunger Heroes Food Frenzy provides us with an opportunity to engage community organizations in our efforts to eliminate hunger in Southeastern Virginia and on the Eastern Shore, which is especially critical in the months surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Ruth Jones Nichols, President and CEO, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. "Marathon Consulting has demonstrated unwavering support for the Foodbank through this campaign. We are especially grateful for their creative participation strategies in the past and ongoing commitment to assisting families in need.”
About Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore
For over 35 years, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore has provided over 290 million meals to those in our community who face hunger. Through our programs, facilities, and large network of community partners, we “eliminate hunger” on a daily basis for many. However, we understand that our current work addresses hunger for individuals in the short term. It does not address the root causes which force individuals to return to a food pantry again and again. This understanding has led to the creation of a new 3-year strategic plan aimed to move Hampton Roads closer to achieving the mission of eliminating hunger for those we serve – not only for the day or for the week, but for a lifetime.
